3/1/2023 0 Comments Rtx 2080 freezing windows 10![]() ![]() Really that leaves it down to the MB, CPU, FAN/Heatsink (but for it to be this, I would expect it to cut out rather than freeze, and the stress test on Ubuntu didn't reveal anything) or Memory. And since the problem occurs when I remove the GPU, I don't think I'm over loading the PSU or the board is not getting enough power. I've read though that should be ok, as that is only really needed if you plan to overclock the CPU. So that means I don't put anything in the 4PIN socket on the MB. No problems either, after 5 minutes of running. While that was running, I also ran the 'stress' software to hit all the CPUs, memory etc. I've also tried running Ubuntu off a USB, and that works fine. Non of the above worked, and all had exactly the same problem. ![]() It gets to the same place just as the dots start spinning and it freezes also.ħ) Tried plugging in another HDD with windows on it.Ĩ) Replaced the PSU with the one from my old PC. (ie the CPU is doing a load of work and/or 'stuck')ģ) Removed the GPU & M.2 SSD, so I had just the mother board, memory (even tried just 1 stick), CPU and fan, and then plugged into the on board DisplayPort.Ĥ) Tried 2 monitors, one 4k with DisplayPort, and another 1080p with DVI to HDMI cable.ĥ) Turned XMP on and off (red LED appears to the right of the memory when this is on, couldn't find anything about this in the manual)Ħ) Tried plugging in another SSD (not a M.2, just a standard SSD) into the SATA port that I know boots and has windows 10 on it. I also notice that when it freezes the CPU fan starts going quicker and makes more noise. I've left it like that for over 1hr, and nothing happens. After the dots have moved a few pixels (its a random amount every time) they freeze and then nothing happens. If I then put that USB into the new computer and reboot, it gets to the beginning of the install, where you see the blue win logo, and the dots start spinning around. I've created a Win10 Install USB from the MS media creation tool page, on my old Win10 PC. The EZ DEBUG LEDs are all off once it's booted. It POSTs and and I can get into the BIOS, and everything looks fine in there. I've put the 2 RAM sticks in slots 2 & 4, as the manual states, and they both have white LED lights above them.
